This is the final sermon in this series on the Lord’s Prayer.

This week, we concluded by taking each phrase, reciting it, reading scripture to expound and illuminate it, and pray into it with a particular practice.

Our Father, who art in heaven, 

  • Romans 8:12-17
  • Centering Prayer:
    • Pick a word or phrase from Scripture
    • Introduce the sacred word as the symbol of your consent to God’s presence and action within
    • If you get distracted, gently return to that word or phrase
    • Conclude in silence

hallowed be thy Name, 

  • Exodus 3:13-15 
  • We listened to scriptural names of God read:
    • El Shaddai - Lord God Almighty
    • El Elyon - The Most high God
    • Adonai - Lord, Master
    • Yahweh - Lord, Jehovah
    • Jehovah Nissi - The Lord my banner
    • Jehovah Raah - The Lord my shepherd
    • Jehovah Rapha - The Lord that heals
    • Jehovah Shammah - The Lord is there
    • Jehovah Tsidkenu - The Lord our righteousness
    • Jehovah Mekodishkem - The Lord who sanctifies you
    • El Olam - The everlasting God
    • Elohim - God
    • Jehovah Jireh - The Lord will provide
    • Jehovah Sabaoth - The Lord of hosts
    • Jehovah Shalom - The Lord is peace

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 

  • Romans 12:9-21 
  • God reveal to me where I elevate something in my own life or in the world above Your Kingdom. Help me submit ______ to You.

Give us this day our daily bread. 

  • Matthew 6:25-33
  • List 10 things God has already provided for you.
  • Petition God to provide something you consider small.
  • Petition God to provide something you consider big.

And forgive us our trespasses, 

  • 1 John 1:9
  • James 5:16
  • Most merciful God,we confess that we have sinned against youin thought, word, and deed,by what we have done,and by what we have left undone.We have not loved you with our whole heart;we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,have mercy on us and forgive us;that we may delight in your will,and walk in your ways,to the glory of your Name. Amen.

as we forgive those who trespass against us.
